  1. Take the car only when necessary

Use your bicycle, walk or take public transport whenever possible. This is healthy for you and for the environment. Use the car only for dedicated rides: to transport goods, sick and handicapped people, small children, and elderly people.

 

  1. Avoid unnecessary idling

Shut off your car engine during a stop of more than 1 minute.

 

  1. Keep a low and reasonable speed

To drive at low speed is safer. Low speed in the right car uses less fuel.

 

  1. Avoid sudden acceleration and sudden brakes .

Avoid fast acceleration and stopping: drive smoothly with subtle acceleration and slow idle before the next red light stop.

During an acceleration, shift to a higher gear as early as possible (at about 2500 RPM). When braking, shift to a lower gear as late as possible.

 

  1. Fuel consumption and maintenance of your car

Maintain the tire pressure, clean the air filter, and check the spark plugs  often and keep them clean.

 

  1. Reduce the weight of your car.

Do not drive around with unnecessary ballast in your trunk or on the roof.
